The book, Mao Really a kindle, Mao Really a Monster? The mobile, Was Mao Really a Monster? The Academic Response to Chang and Halliday's Mao The Unknown Story eBookA pretty damning demonstration of ChangHalliday's extremely sloppy scholarship and one dimensional account of Mao I read all of Mao The Unknown Story and I do think that academia is biased towards excusing or minimizing Mao's atrocities However to really present that side of Mao would reuire a serious and honest attempt at scholarship than ChangHalliday provide This academic response does not prove that Mao was not a monster but it does prove that ChangHalliday's attempt to depict him as one fails One major weakness of the reviewers here though is that they seem remarkably lenient when it comes to Mao's responsibility for millions of deaths in the Great Leap Forward due to famine No it was not intentionally

The book, Mao Really a kindle, Mao Really a Monster? The mobile, Was Mao Really a Monster? The Academic Response to Chang and Halliday's Mao The Unknown Story eBookFrom all this I conclude that this is a bad book It is not useful for those interested in understanding the Chinese Revolution because of its narrow focus on Mao himself It is not useful for those who wish to understand Mao because it is too unreliableThe worst aspect of this book for me is how it reinforces a negative attitude towards China and the Chinese people Already prejudices readers will see the Chinese Revolution as nothing than megalomaniacs killing
